what is the highest resolution of the main camera

We have been tackling the question of resolution for quite some time now. And we finally seem to have gotten down to the bottom of it. So, what is the highest resolution of the main camera? Well, that would be 12 MP.

To give you some context, 1080p video can have a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a maximum frame rate (or frequency) of 24 or 30 frames per second. And in photography, 12MP is still considered high-res enough for most people's needs but will put a dent in your phone battery and may make capturing fast-moving subjects more difficult as well as producing large image files for storage purposes and emailing and messaging purposes etcetera...

Some further context:

- Prior to the G2's announcement, the highest resolution of a smartphone camera was 8MP.

- The G2 offers 4 different resolutions ranging from 0.3MP to 12MP with a frame rate which is fixed at 30FPS. So you're stuck at 30FPS no matter which resolution you choose. However, at 12MP, an interlaced video is produced which means that a full stop motion video is achieved i.e. at 30fps.

- The G2's optical image stabilization has been improved compared to the G1, which was previously the only camera phone able to tackle a 4x lossless zoom. With that said, the official camera app is still rather slow and it takes a while to adjust your focus if you're using this feature. On average, it's about two seconds from pressing "Autofocus..." until you can actually move around your subject in order to take pictures of it.

And regarding the video camera, the G2 features optical image stabilization which is an improvement over the G1. Unfortunately, there's no option to shoot a 1080p video at a frame rate of 60FPS - so don't get too excited. [END OF EXTRACT]

AND some of you have asked me to post this question here in order to garner a greater number of answers:

Could you please take photos and make side by side comparison photos using LG G3, LG G2 and LG Nexus 5 camera? I would like to see how much has actually improved or changed since 2013. Thanx... hope to see your test.

I don't know about side-by-side comparison photos, but here are some comparisons of my own:

G3 on the left, G2 on the right:

Here's a full resolution crop of a section of both pictures:

Notice that there's no difference in quality between these photos - these are both 12MP photos. If you look at higher resolution versions of either photo, you will see that there is some blurring and pixelation which is visible - when you get to a certain level of magnification. You can't see this in the smaller versions that I've posted here - it becomes visible at a magnification of about 150%.

The differences become more apparent when you crop into the picture and magnify it:

The G3 photo magnified to 150% (look closely at the section which i have pointed out with arrows, there are details only in the G3 photo)

And here is a full resolution crop of both pictures for comparison purposes:

You can view larger versions of these images by clicking on them. The difference in quality becomes more apparent when you compare these photos at this level of magnification.
